After the most disappointing season in Renegades history, the Renegades are left weighing our options for the 2012 season. The Renegades are no longer members of the Wisconsin State Football League and admission into any reputable league for the 2012 season looks to be challenge.
Currently, the Renegades are looking into playing the 2012 season as an independent, being able to create our own schedule. Being able to create our own schedule will allow us the ability to try and arrange games with opponents within a certain distance eliminating long distance traveling. The Renegades would look to play over the summer months.
Although playing as an independent will look to be a challenge towards recruiting as the Renegades will not be able to compete for a league championship, the Renegades are still able to compete in tournaments if we can win enough games to have a good ranking within the state. If playing as an independent, the goal would be to do well enough to be able to either apply for a well established league that is travel friendly or give us the ability to receive a league invitation(s).
The other option is to find a new league for the Renegades, but based on the results of this season, the Renegades will not be applying to any league without a league's invitation.
Whatever option the Renegades choose for the 2012 season, there will need to be several changes made to rebuild the team and make us an attractive option for a league. First and foremost would be the hiring of a new head coach, offensive and defensive coordinators along with position coaches. The next would be to raise enough money to officially file for our 501(c)3 Charitable Organization status, which would help us to ensure a financially viable future for years to come.
The Renegades will also need to recruit roughly 30-40 players for the 2012 season. All positions would be available and all starting positions would be open for competition.
